You've put in a lot of hard work, and now, as you eagerly await your results, I want to take a moment to congratulate you on your efforts. But you still feel uneasy, results day is approaching, and you should be fully prepared. Below, you'll find crucial information and guidance to help you navigate this important day.
Navigating Results Day
Results day can be stressful, but it is also a time of great opportunity. You will have choices, and this is exciting. Remember that we at Learning Pathways are here to help you navigate the choices.
What to Do If You Don't Meet Your Firm Choice Conditions:
Contact Your Firm Choice: If your results do not meet your firm choice conditions, but meet your insurance choice conditions, you can attend the insurance choice. Email them about the next steps (if they have not contacted you already). Pro-tip: You may want to contact your firm choice to see if they are still willing to offer you a place. Write an email to the university admissions officer between July 6 – 15 and follow up with a phone call a few days later.
Contact Your Counsellor: Reach out to your Careers and Higher Education Guidance Counsellor for advice and the name of the admissions officer at the universities you wish to contact. Always quote your student identification number in correspondence with universities.
What to Do If You Don't Meet Either Your Firm or Insurance Choice Conditions:
Immediate Contact: Email your Careers and Higher Education Guidance Counsellor immediately.
Contact Your Insurance Choice: Email your insurance choice between July 6 – 15 and follow up with a phone call to see if they will honour their offer.
UCAS Clearing: If you are applying to the UK then get access to UCAS Clearing. This service is available between July 5 and October 20, but more courses become available in August after both IB and A Level (UK AP equivalent) results are released. Check Clearing frequently and act quickly as popular courses are snapped up fast.
Appeals: If you are close to the next grade boundary and want to have your assessment re-marked, discuss this with the IBDP Coordinator. Inform the university that you are appealing your grades and keep them updated on the progress.
Tips for Contacting Universities
Be Prepared: Have your student ID, personal statement, and any relevant documents ready.
Stay Calm: Approach the conversation calmly and professionally.
Be Honest: Clearly explain your situation and ask about any possible options.
Remember, while it is important to act quickly, staying calm and fully engaging in the process will help you make the most of the opportunities available to you.
Best of luck, and we are here to support you every step of the way!
