Over the festive season! Things that help you get in!

ree

Over the festive season, we advise that students look into supercurricular activities. A supercurricular activity can be described as any activity that goes beyond a standard curriculum. Universities see them as mediums through which a student can demonstrate they have a passion and commitment to their chosen field of study.

There are many opportunities to engage with subject-based extended activities, and we recommend the following:

  • Enroll in online courses or MOOCs. These offer the best and easiest access to supercurricular activities.

  • Access websites such as FutureLearn.co.uk, Coursera, edX or Khan Academy. These have a wide variety of courses for our students to take part in, many of which are free.

  • Gain practical experience in your career choice by shadowing a professional over school breaks or holidays.

  • Take part in competitions or Olympiads to learn about your subject and meet people with like minds.

We encourage students to identify and pursue supercurricular opportunities that align with their academic interests and career goals. It can be as simple as reading around your subject areas or as complex as conducting your research project. For example, many students are reading articles and essays online or making blogs about their favorite areas of interest.

Whatever you choose, the key is to further engage in and enjoy your interest areas over the Christmas season.
