At this time of year, many of the students we see at Learning Pathways want to know what choices to make in Grade 11 and 12. Students present with many diverse linguistic, cultural and educational requirements. It is true to say that the needs of each family will be unique and individualized. Here are some guidelines that may help.
Challenge
First, you should choose pathways that offer challenges. Whether you take the Advanced Placement or the IB Diploma, you should make sure you are motivated academically and personally over the next two years.
Interests
We ask that the courses align with your interests and strengths. Remember, your passions should drive your interests, and you will be on the right path.
Career
Next, think if the choices align with your career or university goals. Do your choices align with the requirements of your future? Are there any combinations that are exclusive to the specific course you would like to do post-18?
Happiness
It could be helpful for you to consider the demands of the courses in line with your out-of-school commitments. A highly demanding course can motivate you but can also limit the time you may have for out-of-school competitions and events. A happy student is a successful one, so leave some time for your interests.
